© Reuters Australia stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 down 1.41% – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sydney, the lost 1.41% to hit a new 1-month low.

The best performers of the session on the were Ramelius Resources Ltd (ASX:), which rose 5.83% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.09 at the close. Meanwhile, Perseus Mining Ltd (ASX:) added 4.43% or 0.09 points to end at 2.12 and Silver Lake Resources Ltd (ASX:) was up 3.77% or 0.04 points to 1.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Computershare Ltd. (ASX:), which fell 7.71% or 1.83 points to trade at 21.90 at the close. Perpetual Ltd (ASX:) declined 6.96% or 1.60 points to end at 21.40 and Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:) was down 6.87% or 0.18 points to 2.44.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 981 to 316 and 369 ended unchanged.

Shares in Computershare Ltd. (ASX:) fell to 52-week lows; down 7.71% or 1.83 to 21.90. Shares in Perpetual Ltd (ASX:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.96% or 1.60 to 21.40. Shares in Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:) fell to 3-years lows; falling 6.87% or 0.18 to 2.44.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 11.29% to 16.37 a new 3-months high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.05% or 0.95 to $1,915.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.22% or 0.91 to hit $73.89 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.10% or 0.89 to trade at $79.88 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 0.67, while AUD/JPY rose 0.32% to 89.04.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 103.52.
